Great topic!

Here's 3 easy - Haiku? poems to memorize:

Freud was a fraud
-by Freed

A little snow may come & go.
-by Pierre Trudeau

Bob Dylie sings....almost!

(With apologies to Mad magazine)

But seriously, folks, great poetry and prose are beautiful things!
The soul of wit is brevity.

tnx Pete!

A haiku by Christina Caravoulias and me, upon approaching the Severn River Bridge during the final miles of the Annapolis 10 Miler (cf. BabyGetsNewShoes):

The bridge arches high,
Welcoming our weary feet
With wide open arms

and another one I wrote during a late-December run through Rock Creek Park (cf. Winter Wardrobe):

Sunbeams clothe bare limbs
   In gossamer gowns bejeweled
With diamond dewdrops

Your (& Chris's) poetry is beautiful in its simplicity, Mark!

I remember my 11th Grade English teacher explaining Haiku with this example:

"A wheelbarrow full of rain glistening in the sun": we got the point after some chuckles.

My job entails reducing complex systems into brief, understandable components: the Critical Path Schedule: I love reducing the complex to the simple: as Tears for Fears said: "You've got to break it down again!"

Cheers
